For the most part, insurance cancellations in 2013 were limited to those who buy their own insurance. But as the law’s employer mandate takes effect in 2015, small- and large-group plans will face a similar shift in fall of 2014. At the same time, reinstated individual plans will be cancelled again, since the President’s “fix” lasts only a year. As more and more plans are cancelled, Americans will face limited options. When the President’s promise – “If you like your health plan, you can keep it” – was broken, the most important takeaway for Americans was this: ObamaCare’s effects go far beyond those who are currently uninsured. The new law will have consequences for every American’s insurance plan, and those consequences are only now coming to light.
