The President’s now-infamous claim that “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan,” has been unequivocally debunked. An estimated 9 million Americans either have lost or may lose their health coverage because it did not meet new Obamacare standards. A similar phenomenon will likely play out, albeit on a much larger scale, when the employer mandate goes into effect. The vast majority of covered Americans rely on their employers to provide health insurance. Enacting H.R. 3522, the “Employee Health Care Protection Act of 2013,” would extend the “grandfathered” status to plans offered in 2013, and thus allow the President to come closer to keeping his promise.
